I began breeding and showing Persians under the Sargon prefix in about 1977. With my wife, Chris, I was a founding member of Orchid City Cat Club in Townsville and I have been a member of the Exotic Cat Club of Queensland Inc for many years. As well as the Persians, we also bred British Shorthairs under the Carinya prefix with many Best–in–Show winners. We then embarked on an experimental breeding program to develop Exotic Shorthairs with great success in this breed as well. Since moving to Toowoomba some 20 years ago, we have been breeding Burmese with our daughter, Carolynn, under the Jovelles prefix. We are now also breeding British once again and have had some success, particularly in 2015 where one of our home grown, Carinya Elijah was awarded Shorthair Kitten of Year. Another home grown, Carinya Moonbear was also Reserve Cat Of Year and equal Best of Breed 2015 which was a real thrill for us. I became an approved Group One Judge in 1989 and have completed my training in Group Two. I am a Group One Tutor Judge and have judged in Australia as well as in New Zealand. Over the years, I have been involved in the running of many successful shows and I am currently continuing to develop a computerised program for catalogues, judges' slips, etc. I was a member of CFCCQ's Management Committee from 2005 to March 2008, and later for CQI.
